What is the difference between the Low Temperature Plasma Sterilizer and the EtO Gas Sterilizer?

Ethylene oxide (EtO) is hazardous not only to users but also to patients, and it is an environmentally hazardous substance too. Because of this, the installation of an EtO sterilizer is costly and also extreme precaution must be taken to ensure there is no environmental damage. Furthermore, after sterilization medical instruments sterilized with the EtO Gas Sterilizer should be exposed to air for a long period of time. For these reasons, the use of the EtO Gas Sterilizer in many hospitals is decreasing.

The Plasma Sterilizer does not use toxic hazardous gases like the EtO Gas Sterilizer. The Sterilant of Plasma Sterilizer is H2O2 (Hydrogen Peroxide) which decomposes safely to Water vapor and Oxygen after the sterilization process. In addition, it is possible to use medical instruments immediately after the sterilization process because there is not any residual toxicity left on medical instruments.

Is it possible to use the pouch of EtO Gas Sterilizer with the Plasma sterilizer?

In short, the answer is “no”. Because one side of the Pouch for EtO Gas Sterilizer is made from paper that is an absorbent material,  it cannot be used with the  Plasma Sterilizer. One side of the pouch for the Plasma Sterilizer is the Tyvek material.

We have a sealer for the EtO Gas Sterilizer, but should we buy an additional sealer for the Plasma Sterilizer?

No, the existing sealer is compatible with the plasma pouch if the sealing temperature can be set at 120-135℃ for the sealing plasma pouch.
